 Projects

While working on my undergraduate degree I worked on some interesting projects. The first listed is my senior thesis which I spent a year researching with the Collins research group. Their research focused on the electrical properties of single walled carbon nanotubes. The other three projects were from a senior physics lab at UC Irvine.

senior thesis

Measurement of the Height of an Oxide Layer On the Surface of a Carbon Nanotube using AFM: 2007 senior physics thesis and powerpoint presentation, presented at multiple science conferences. download thesis (two zipped pdf files)

deriving the mass of saturn

Using a high power telescope, we photographed the position of Saturn's moons in incremental times over a period of 3 weeks. Using various data reduction methods you can deduce the mass of saturn using basic orbital dynamics.

muon lifetime experiment

Using high voltage photovoltaic tubes and logic gate arrays to filter data, the muon lifetime can be estimated to good precision over a period of a few days.
